FSSI's commitment to diversity is based on the fundamental
beliefs that it is equally ethical and good business.
FSSI's Standards of Business Ethics and Conduct states,
"Equal employment opportunity and affirmative action
are a matter of sound business policy as well as public
responsibility. It is essential, therefore, that all
personnel actions be carried out without regard to marital
status, religion, race, color, age, sex, national origin,
handicap or veteran status.
We at FSSI have developed initiatives to respond better
to changes in the demographics of the labor force, changes
in customer requirements, and the globalization of the
marketplace. These include "grass roots" efforts
with employee-led committees, employee empowerment to
improvement of our diversity programs, and recommendations
for adopting the practices of other companies and organizations.
Our business unit's managers and corporate Human Resources
staff have identified approaches to increasing diversity
such as training, formal recruiting, and mentoring programs.
The result is a company-wide effort to expand the diversity
of the work force and to develop a culture where the
employee population can succeed. The following provides
more information on these efforts and the results they
have produced. Continued activity in these arenas will
allow FSSI to remain competitive and maintain its place
as a leader in scientific and technological development
and service to customers on a worldwide basis.
